Worshiping, November 17, 2009 - Book of Acts, Chapter 4

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Over the past several year, the Lord has had me doing a lot of writing of the scripture. I’ve gone through the book of Revelation; the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and now I’m in the book of Acts.

I wanted to tell you what I believe the Lord has shown me in the Acts 4:13-15 which is something I believe that happens among a lot of the churches that I’ve seen wherever I am. It says, “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves……”  You see, what I’ve seen here is that because people didn’t “match their beliefs” or the following of Jesus didn’t match up to the people that the “higher up” people felt they were more learned, they would not hear what Peter & John had to say because in their own “church” eyes, they felt Peter & John were “ignorant” because they weren’t attorneys, they weren’t Sadducees, they weren’t Pharisaical, so they (Peter & John) according to the eyes of the upper people, would not have anything worth saying so they were “kicked out.”

My question here is, “do we do that to people who are younger than we are?” Are we saying that about people around us? Also, do people in Baptist Churches, people in Catholic Churches, people in Methodist Churches, people in Spirit Filled Churches……all of these types of churches, are they cancelling people out because they felt that these down-learned people had nothing really worth saying? That is a very dangerous place to be but I’ve seen that it is a very common thing. When the Lord showed this to me as I was witing through this particular scripture, I saw how careful we must be and how careful people around us must be about assuming “littleness” around us!!
