One day this week, I woke up thinking about Africa—just the whole continent. So when I had opportunity that morning, I went to the internet and printed off an arial view of Africa with all of the countries outlined and the names of the countries. Then I printed out a page which had all of the countries on them and their flags. Then I printed out another part that had a description of each country and a general geography of each country. I went to coffee that morning and held the map of Africa in my hand while I ordered my “capuccino” at the counter and laid my picture of Africa on the counter and a friend of mine came in behind me and saw the picture and said that he had just had two dreams that night about the country of “Chad” and that there was a white man with an airplane to rescue Christians from Muslim persecution in that country. Then that day, when my friend was teaching a prophetic school, an unusual event took place. Someone showed up at the teaching who was a political refugee from an African country who had just come to Hong Kong and he ended up participating in the remainder of the week of prophetic sessions with my friend Clint—a reminder to me all week about Africa.
So, what I felt about Africa as it related to me is that there were probably some in my Children’s Worship class who would be going to Africa and that I should get these children to begin praying for this continent. So for the children’s worship class, I had them all get on their multi-colored “ephods” and told them that we were going to have a procession and take the country of Africa “into the house of God.” I had set up chairs round about the room with a doorway and we had someone carry the picture of the country of Africa at the beginning of the procession and everyone else followed waving banners and playing tambourines and marching and singing, “We march! We march to the beat of the heart of God!” We brought the country right into the middle of the house of God (the house had eight of the names of God and the names of the seven spirits of God posted on papers in English and Chinese taped to the backs of chairs that were facing inside the circle). They laid down the country of Africa in the middle of the river banners which were laid out on the floor in the house of God and then we prophetically marched around Africa 7 times inside the house of God and shouted “Jesus” for about a minute at the end of the procession. Then each child was given two countries and we talked about where the country was located on the continent and as we described the geographical location and characteristics of each country they were given the Chinese name in writing and verbally of each country. Then we pointed to the countries on our big map of Africa so they could see where that country was and we quoted the verse out of Psalm 2:8 which says, “Ask of me, and I shall give you the heathen for your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession.” I asked them “What is a heathen?” Initially they didn’t know so we discussed that a heathen is anybody who does not believe that Jesus Christ is God and Savior. That was sobering. Then we talked about the heathen being an inheritance and that the Lord wants to give us that whole “remote part of the earth” as an inheritance.
I had the children gather around the country of Africa which was on the paper in the middle of the room of the house of God and lay their hands on it and each child was to pray for their countries and I would like to document what they prayed today.
Sam was praying for Namibia and Ivory Coast. He prayed they would have peace and protection and that they would have delicious food.
Bernice prayed for Sudan and Benin that the people will be happy every day in their lives.
Timothy was praying for Botswana and Zambia. He prayed that the people will know Jesus and be a country that lifts up Jesus.
Ivan prayed for Angol and Guinea Bissau. He said, “I feel that these two countries are not happy. Many people are sinful because their happiness needs to come from the Lord, not from demons.”
Sean prayed for Reunion and Ghana. “Father, I pray that you help these countries to come to believe in Jesus, and to not worship idols.”
Joy prayed for Zimbabwe and Gambia. “Dear Father, I know that in these countries many do not know You. I pray that they know You as the creator and have peace in You. Please bless these countries.”
Jessie prayed for Algeria and Rwanda. She said, “Lord please heal Rwanda and Algeria. Please heal the land.”
We did not discuss about any “issues” on this continent. I encouraged the children to just listen to the Holy Spirit and pray what He was telling them to pray. Generally speaking, the Chinese people do not concern themselves about being “happy” so when this was mentioned, we believed this was a prophetic insight. A couple of children were coached in their comments, but most were not. Although these children range in ages from about 5 to 12, some had deep spiritual insight in their prayers and we didn’t mention anything to them about the worship of idols. We ended the class by having them draw their two countries if they could, write the name of the country on their paper, and write out the scripture verse of Psalm 2:8 and to take the paper home and pray for those countries this week.
We didn’t get through all of the countries of Africa, so we will probably continue this next week.
